VitalitySeed Crunchies: The organic activated seed granola that makes any meal better

From private chef to nutritional therapist, how Tytania Rose built a product that solves getting the maximum nutrition without sacrificing flavour

Maximum nutrition without sacrificing flavour?

Most of us know seeds are good for us but adding a handful on to a salad isn’t always the best for taste or nutrition. Nutritional therapist Tytania Rose, the creator of VitalitySeed Crunchies has something to say about it.

VitalitySeed Crunchies are an organic activated seed granola. These aren’t just for breakfast though, there’s savoury & sweet versions too, which means they can go on your salad at lunch, roasted veg at dinner or your yoghurt at breakfast. They are super versatile.

These are different to what you’ll find in a bag of mixed seeds at Planet Organic. For a start the seeds are activated, which opens up their nutritional profile & then they’re dehydrated but at a low enough temperature to keep them raw so that all those nutritional benefits remain available.

Seeds are one of the most nutrient rich foods you can eat. They're packed with protein, omega-3 & omega-6, along with minerals like zinc, magnesium & iron. They contain plenty of fibre & the seed oils are great for health. The problem is that most seeds aren’t prepared in the same way as VitalitySeed Crunchies.

Seeds produce anti-nutrients, which keep nutrients locked in & animals away. The problem is, when we eat those same seeds, the anti-nutrients stop us accessing the full nutritional profile of the seeds & can stress your digestion. But VitalitySeed Crunchies have their seeds activated so the nutrients are far more available.

There’s also the question of taste. Toasted seeds might taste better but heat damages the nutrients & oils. By dehydrating instead of toasting, these seed granolas keep the oils intact while giving a delicious crunch.

The quality of a crop starts with the soil it was grown in. A dependence on modern chemical fertilisers & industrial farming means crops have less to offer nutritionally, which is why everything in the range is organic.

Tytania has a master's degree in food politics & that shows in the way she thinks about the business, the idea that good health & a healthy food system aren't separate. But she didn't set out to build a food brand. She spent several years working as a private chef, working with clients ranging from people with complex gut issues to professional sports people.

She trained at Leith's, completed an advanced nutrition degree at The School of Health & is currently working through a naturopathic doctor programme.

While private cheffing, one of Tytania’s clients needed to avoid nuts due to health reasons. Seeds seemed like an obvious choice & Tytania started working on the granolas. She saw how even a simple salad was transformed when the granola was added. More flavour & more crunch all done with a quick sprinkle.
